Terror targets! Get them here! FOR FREE!!!

Sometimes you really wonder what is going on in the world, especially when it comes to politics and the media (and what’s the news in that??)

Fashionable political trend is that ‘you have to blend with the young ones and stay upbeat with the way of the world.
Right right, but sometimes the politician may be a bit too eager to be the uncrown king of the 'cool and trendy society' and they do what they can to have their part of the upbeat society - thou it sometimes seems that they're having a lack of understanding the same...
Copenhagen commune has signed an agreement with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to create a digital map over Copenhagen where all citizens with their mobile's on will be seen as small read dots moving around on a screen having internet access.
Aim? Ehm…unclear for the moment actually. But does look like a handy tool for real estate sellers to see where shopper's shop (they could ask me or any of my other 500.000 fellow-shoppers), and for taxi-drivers to see where 'the crowd is' (unknown to the rest of the world perhaps, but there's not even enough taxis in Copenhagen in the first place, they definitely already know where to pick up people besides the airport...).
Futuristically you would be able to follow traffic jams etc, view crowds at big events (concerts, football matches, etc) too.
Ehm but... no. I still don’t get it…

Ow ok! Perhaps....? Hmmm. Sure, why not? Think I may getting this afterall... Right, so check this; Next year promo-banner on ‘Al Q.uestions own - Easy Steps to Suicidal’-site:

“Can’t find proper targets? Running out of ideas? Having a bomb and no brain? And you like to blow it all up?? Then you’ve come to the right place!
Get more than 50 body counts on the same time! Click here! (you know you want to :))
We got it all gathered for you! By one click YOU can see WHERE citizens of the entire capital are. This makes it easier for you to find your exact target(-s!!!).
No more ridiculous amounts of body counts – NOW! Get PROPER body counts by clicking here: http://senseable.mit.edu/realtimerome/sketches/index.html
or here: http://senseable.mit.edu/realtimerome/sketches/index.html - Yeah haha, it’s the same, it’s just THAT easy!!! :)
Just two points you should kindly note for your own convenience:
Note 1: Only citizens WITH mobile phones turned on will be showed on the screen – however, to compensate this, the cute red dots are moving in REAL TIME!
Note 2: Please note for your own convenience when planning an attack that the red dots moving around on the screen are the living people – with mobile phones on. We wish you luck'n'blow! :)”

Ehm. I may seem a bit ironic on this -cough- and old fashioned (as usual), but wasn’t September 11 a terror-attack? Madrid train-bombings, terror attack, as well as the London bombings, and unfortunately the list is beyond an economical package of 58 toilet paper rolls-long - only of bombings/attacks in various countries through centuries, and only categorised as terror???

Well, which – seems to be rather convenient point on any politician's agenda before elections – makes the international fight against terror popular.

The media loves the word ‘terror’. The politicians surely sits at their empty desks trying to recount their votes each time they are quoted for sentences where the word ‘terror’ involves; “Harh-harh, check me out now mama! Free votes, free wine and lots of stick-food – terror-terror-terror-buuuuurp-terror-terror-terror…”

I was watching the morning news about the bridge collapsing in Minneapolis. Horrified I looked at this bridge (that looked like a collapsed bridge – not that I’m an expert in the field thou) and first thing that came to mind was surely human to think ‘thank god, I wasn’t there or that I knew no one there either…’. Till the interviewer goes; “…and the bridge collapsed. Inspections of the bridge had been done 2 years before, and had showed no indication of the bridge to collapse ‘anytime soon’. The world is questioning another terror-attack!...”

I sure don’t know much about collapsed bridges, but I think I can recognise a terror attack when I see one, by now (- how sad is that actually!).

Not that you were convinced, it’s more a reporter’s fashion statement when they go; It could be a TERROR ATTACK!

And you know that feeling where you open yours eyes wide up starring at the bridge and think; “gosh yeah! I actually didn’t think of that!? A terror-attack!??” – a flood of hate - to be denied later - overwhelms your body and you have an instant moment of angriness and frustration; “terror… those fuckers, I’m so goddamn tired of them – I go bomb them all myself! -mumble-, in some smart non-suicidal way thou…” – starting to think that that may be quite impossible, and you just wonder why those brainless bastards don’t have ‘training-camps' where they could just 'practise' the blowing up-part?? ...

However! That morning I had a flash of max 5 seconds - till my eyes started rolling around in my head again and I had heard the word ‘terror’ for about 15 times in a 1.35 minutes-span. I took a good look at the bridge, and honestly the bridge looked like it really had, collapsed. But the media insisted on terror.

Usually I find it highly pathetic how so much gets categorised as ‘terror-attacks! Again!’. And what these people don’t realise, is that they start a fear – an angst – between the citizens, who stares and judge each other, cos the word ‘terror’ was used again, and so it’s totally ok to look degrading at your neighbors for a couple of weeks after “are you a taxi-driver, or a BOMB-driver!??”

Today’s News; “A penguin farted in an igloo. Experts claim possible terror-attack! Will this theory be overruled, the theory of an obvious attempt to attack human kind by slipping Co2-emmissons will be investigated…” (yeah, if it’s not terror, it’s pollution. What else…)

Funny how frustrated 'the world' can be about some things, and totally ignorant when it comes to other issues - and, no one asked me if I wanted to be a red dot in a real time picture!?? Haha, I think that penguin possible farted in the Mayor’s office… several times.

But honestly, WTF!? A Live digital map of a capital and all its citizens in real time!?? Or, am I just overreacting?...

I find it contradictory. They’re all worked up about death-threats the soldier’s who fought in the Iraq war is getting. They were ‘found’ by people tracing their mobiles. Hey well, why not just hand it over to them? No more hassle with hacking, download it here! For free!

“Hmm, just a thought, but say Mayor, doesn’t this get your blood all boiled up, you feel an excitement?”
“Yes James, I have to admit I do feel a tickling in my left big toe…”
“Say Mayor, have you ever seen Rat Race?? Where the overwhelming wealthy people make million-dollar bets on what they can get people to do? – ah well, hilarious, and say, we could do the same – bet on how long this city will stand from the date we launch this online target-site?”
"Ah yes. Aha yes, you are on to something. Do continue. Please. Do continue”…

Right, ok ok ok…

Let’s look at the pro/cons (mwhuahahaha) Ok. Let’s try then;

Aim: To have a better overview of the ‘traffic in the city’

Existing solution:

Highway-cams (incl. visuals on accidents, speeding’s, and can be used against crime – records number plates etc)

Metro-cams (incl. visuals on attacks, theft, etc)

Street-cams (again, incl. visual on street fights, drive-by’s, in general can be used against crime).

Super markets, post offices, banks, malls, etc…

Access to these cams; Limited access

Versus:

Digital map (incl. visuals of bunches of red dots moving around. Cars, bikes, the metro not to be defined)

Access; Public. Though requires internet…

Hmmm. Yeah. But ok. Noh. I might be a bit stupid on this one, but what exactly is the improvement, and where’s my privacy-right???

Come on, an online 24-hour digital, free map of where all citizens are exactly at that minute (even my granny has a mobile phone), sorry, but doesn’t it seem that there’s an annex missing to the so-called “fight against terror-guideline”?

“Oh excuse me to interrupt gents, but there’s no more paper in the men’s room, would you mind if I grab page 5 of the annex??”

I don't want to seem more old-fashioned than I am, but the idea of an online map of such kind doesn't talk to my logic sense - escpecially when the CPH Representation do mention that 'it should not be possible to trace individual mobile-phones'. "Ehm..Now you say 'should'? How do you mean exaclty?"
One argument to the cons-list of keeping a digital map that all it does is to view the public's private phones - is the possible terror-risk in it.
Another obvious argument in public surveillance and which shouldn't be neglected - is the act of adding size to the Big Brother. And a lot of it...

Of course a penguin farting in an igloo is a terror alert. Penguins are native to the south pole and the Inuit people who build igloos live at the north pole.

The farting penguin is thousands of miles from home, in fact he couldn't be further from home (unless he's Kevin the space penguin) and releasing noxious gasses in people's homes! Obviously a terrorist!
