"Nothing has changed around here!"

I finally returned to the country of origin. I had spent many years abroad, thou not too far away in distance, nor in climate. Thou I thought.
Belgium had been kind to me, and I felt very sad on the day I had to leave. A tear felt down on my lap as we left the Belgium borders behind us.

I was looking forward to see old friends and family, and a wave of excitement went through my body when I thought of it. And thou I had not considered that so much would have had changed in the past 5.5 year, I eventually had to realise that something’s had indeed changed while I was away.

I met up with my very good friend. We had arranged to meet in town and have a coffee in one of the new fancy cafés that seem to have sprung up everywhere in this city.
She had got a little son meanwhile, and I was excited to see them both. Standing at the meeting-point I could only notice a woman and her son around the same spot, but I was sure it was not them. I turned away, and she came over and tapped me on my shoulder; Christina! You don’t recognize me???
I acknowledged immediately the voice, and in my excitement I turned around with my arms open ready for the big reunion-hug. But horror!! What was this!?? I had not grown THAT long arms since I left! What was I to do now? How could I ignore the massive reality my eyes met??

So, when you move around and live in different places, you will hear people telling that either you or them did not change that much since those years, but my advice to you, DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU HEAR!!!

My other friend took a reunion-picture of us. I did try to look not to surprised, but I am sure that you must understand the difficulties in that…

Following we decided to go to the beach instead, it somehow seemed to be more convenient.

The big world called Denmark

Another little non-particular update from me.

Weather’s still cool as in 31.1 degrees today BUT with NO humidity – hehehehe – and plus Denmark is now facing the 5th official beach-day.
The news are busy about testing various ice-creams at random ice-cream places rating them with suns, as well as letting us know how soft the sand is on random beaches, rating that too with small umbrellas. This is the Danish news; “North-Korea are still trying hard to attract US attention by sending of rackets *short clip from North Korea*. And now for Arne Tarnbjerg who’s been testing this summer’s “Gammeldaws” ice-creams(1) from various ice-cream places around the Danish summerland(2). Mette Svendsen has been testing the softness of the sand, and will give us a report just after Arne. Arne? How do those ice-creams taste? Are they good, and could you get your favourite flavour - with no problem? Did you choose a cone, and was this home-made?? *Arne is out in the ‘field’ (beach, red.) eating away an ice-cream bigger than his head*. The presenter in studio; Are you there Arne, hah, hah? Do you read, or, eat, hah, hah?
Arne was caught busy looking at some topless girls, but realising the little red lamp blinking on the camera, he very excited starts telling about how well the ice-cream is. Mette is presenting in her bikini with a towel around her thou explaining on which beach she found the sand most soft.
And in my little living room I’m thinking; I GOT THE BLOODY WRONG JOB!!!
This is very typically thou. I do suspect these kinds of reports happening as we didn’t qualify to WorldCup, and the time was originally booked for watching football fans all over the world, i.e. in Denmark, screaming cheering, drinking, making new friends, laughing, etc… but as that didn’t happen they were forced to fill out the time-span with ice-cream-tasting and sand-qualifying tests from random beaches instead.
Damn the National football team! ;)
Anyway, at least Robbie came a few days ago, and after passing Christiania with his mates, he created his own football match with random ppl (ok, celebs then). Thou Denmark is questioning this as apparent side-effects from drugging… We don’t know. Yet. He’s playing tonight and off tomorrow.

Ah, well, I’m settling in I guess. Observing this bizarre country I’m from. Thou, it’s fun.
Work-wise, it’s all in English, that’s great. Keeping it up ;) Or try anyway. The job has really started now, and there’s loooooooots to do. It’s great and interesting. Have to give a presentation about meself, “And don’t say that you’re here cos you wanted to go home, please!! – Everybody says that, I’m so tired of it”
…right, for my information I guess, instead; “I’m glad to be here, but NOT because I wanted to go home. I’m here because I tried to teach my granny to turn off the water while she’s brushing teeth, and someone thought; Duuuuuuude, let’s hire her!!! Any questions? Good. Nice meeting you. Looking forward to it, and here, have some cake”.

Gonna go home now. Thou I meet up with Michelle every morning now for coffee and a drive in to town, as she lives just around the corner from me, I am indeed passing again this evening to say hello. I said I would be there soon. Which was an hour and half ago. Some things just don’t change! ;)

On the flipping-side dudes!
Cx

(1) mon Dieu! I can’t find ONE picture of it on the net!!! Gotta go and have one meself, just for the picture, obviously, but you gotta see it – rather HAVE TO taste it! Maaaaaassive ice-cream! Yum!!
(2) that’s what Denmark is called, during the summer…so.

"The vehicle must not sail!"

…the lady exclaimed.
“Right. …But if they were allowed to..?? Ok, never mind then” Starting to imagine cars and vans being driven down in the harbor to then continue the trip, just sailing.
“So, you mean, like I can’t take it on board a ferry for example?” Feeling completely aware that it was a stupid question.
“Exactly madam – the vehicle must not sail”
Yeah, so, it didn’t matter anyway, I only needed a price for comparison. Of course after spending more than 10 minutes specifying what, when, where etc, and finally getting the rental price for 5 days, we realized we were talking about two different kinds of vehicles, and that I had to call another number to book a van with no seats in the back, if ‘I actually needed it for moving!’. Look lady, I too wasted time on this phone-call! Even if I could rent with you, I wouldn’t as I NEED to sail to get home (or do TourDenmark to avoid sailing). So all of you Maltese, Cypriots, various places in Greece and Italy, etc, do first remember to ask the rental company if the vehicle is allowed to sail at all.
Sailing. It’s the best part of the trip. I was slumbering in the van driving to Puttgarden, when I was awaken by a sudden scent of salty fresh sea air. The only time I got chills. The ferry means a lot. It’s the last place I am before being really home. Like flying, next time you touch land it’s the final destination. It’s also a 45 minutes break, eating the first Danish meal and then go to the deck and watch the sea, watch the land you left, and the land you’re going to (you can see both all the time).

Anyway, save arrival after long hard drive. Super grateful thanks to Peter for helping me, ‘det var feeeeedt, mand!’ ;o)

Already managed to do quite a lot, seeing my granny, BBQ at mom’s, re-arranging the apartment a bit, throwing out stuff, seeing Mette, Michelle and Mark, and do some sightseeing. And of course! First day at work!! Haven’t started the actual job yet, as I’m having an introduction week, but have to say that I’m really excited for when I will. Got an office, pc WITH login that WORKS, met the colleagues, first lunch in the canteen (wauw, nice stuff!) and my photo is online on the intranet (I should just have known that before the picture was taking…). But not wasting any time in this neighborhood thou.

Back to the apartment, I’m quite happy being here. It feels like home too. It’s not as odd as I thought it would be. It just needs a massive clean-up – why? Why?? WHY does women have to pick up things, look at it and think “Hey, I better keep this thingie, cos who knows, maybe I might need it sometime???” …yeah, hmmmm, huh Christina?? The amount of crap one can gather. Soh, I’m lucky to be as knackered as I am, as all those thoughts are therefore temporarily replaced with the simple thought saying “Hm? …Bin”, as it’s as far as I can think. The imagination must be on an almost crucial low level (unless it’s about sailing cars of course).

And on that note, I will go to bed, the only place not invaded by moving-boxes, clothes and one of the apparent 8 quilts I’ve got. 8 quilts, man. I must be expecting company or something?? ;o) – and I threw out 3 already… Fetish.
I’ll leave you guys, heading down to the canal (see pic) and have an evening drink before heading home. Some 30 degrees of sun will keep my company J

Stort kys :)

Some pics from Sunday…
Nyhavn

Nyhavn (again)

Nyhavn (yeah again then!)

Well, perhaps it's another new fetish??!
